Want Reliable Internet For All Computers? Get Creative With Ethernet Cables

Blog

As a homeowner, you will find that one of the most effective ways to improve your Internet connection is by looking at the available internet access providers and picking the fastest plan. Once you make this change, you may see a noticeable increase in speeds across your connected devices.

If you know that some of your devices are connectable through an Ethernet cable, you may want to go wired. While you may be able to connect one or two devices that are close to your modem and router, you may need to get creative to hook an Ethernet cable up to devices in other rooms.

Baseboards

When you are determined to keep Ethernet cables from showing up all over your house, you should not hesitate to use baseboards to hide them. This will require that you remove the baseboards temporarily so that you can conceal Ethernet cables behind them. By using this method, you should be able to cover a lot of distance with the cables to get them into other rooms.

Flooring

If you choose not to use the baseboards or you do not have them in certain rooms, you may have another option in using your floors to run Ethernet cables around the house. This is something that you will be able to do with carpet by slipping the cables underneath the edges. In homes that are mainly carpeted, you should be able to use this method with great effectiveness.

Walls

An easy way to get an Ethernet cable from one room to another is by putting a hole in a wall and running a cable through. When the only thing separating two rooms is a wall, you will appreciate using this method because it will still allow you to use a short Ethernet cable. Also, you can put the two holes in areas that are not visible in either of the rooms, such as behind furniture.

Ceiling

When you are living in a multistory home, you should consider using the ceiling as a way to get Ethernet cables either upstairs or downstairs. This is well worth considering even if you are not able to conceal a cable all the way since it would otherwise require using an extra-long cable.

If you want to enjoy the reliability that comes from a wired Internet connection with Ethernet cables, you should get creative with setting them up in your house to avoid any eyesores.
